The Kindness Cafe was set up in 2022 at Slateford Longstone Parish Church.  The aim of Kindness Cafe is to offer a friendly and welcoming environment for people of the community to meet, chat and share fellowship.  We meet on a Tuesday, every fortnight from 12-2pm.  Our first meeting in 2025 is Tuesday 30th September.

Over the past years we have seen the attendance rise and now have around 30-40 people attending each session.  We provide home made soup with bread and delicious homemade cakes every fortnight and although we do not have a set price we do accept donations that can be left discreetly at the door.  We previously received grants to support the Kindness Cafe however, this is no longer the case and therefore, we rely heavily on donations we receive to allow us to continue to run the cafe. 

As well as fortnightly get togethers, we have special  celebrations throughout the year.  For example we celebrated VE day, Easter with easter eggs and also offered a Christmas Eve lunch that saw our numbers sore to 50.  We celebrate special occasions with fun activities for all ages to enjoy for example quizzes and music.

We offer a warm invitation to anyone in community who would like to join us and be assured, you do not need to be a member of the church to join the fun.  

So, if you enjoy homemade soup and cakes, would like to make new friends or catch up with old friends, then please come along and join us.
