Kirk Session March 2017

Our Church has now been issued with the new Unitary Constitution, with effect from October 2016. This means that the Congregational Board has ceased to exist, though its Finance and Property teams continue to meet much as before. They now report direct to the Kirk Session. The aim in all this is to manage the church's affairs more efficiently and to encourage people onto the teams who may not want to be office-bearers

On the property front, everyone is delighted with the sanding and varnishing of the Activities Hall floor, while the five-yearly professional property inspection has revealed that only minor urgent work needs to be done, mostly roof maintenance. A finance report is elsewhere in this issue of Kirk News. Church members are asked to note that the Stated Annual Meeting will be held after the morning service on 19 March

The Kirk Session is very pleased with the progress of Messy Church, which continues to attract a significant number of families. The current team of leaders plans to continue Messy Church events once the minister retires at the end of June

It's a tradition at Slateford Longstone to have Communion on Easter Sunday, which is 16 April (note that there will not be a Communion service on the first Sunday of April)
